CARRIE GUSTAFSON - GLASS
Opening reception with the artist: Friday, November 3, 5PM - 9PM
Please join us Friday, November 3rd for our opening reception of New Work in Glass by Carrie Gustafson. The artist will be present to discuss her work between 6-8pm. Her highly collectible fine art glass has garnered numerous awards including the coveted Smithsonian Excellence in Glass Award. Gustafson’s new pieces continue her exploration of the modern glass form inspired by patterns and objects found in art history and from direct observation in nature. She is not only a gallery favorite, but also a rising star in the contemporary glass world. Her luminous vessels radiate a joyful aesthetic while at the same time displaying an astonishing level of precise, detailed craftsmanship. The exhibition will be on view through January 3, 2018.

LORI WARNER - MONOTYPES
Horizon in Vertical - a new series of monotype prints by Lori Warner
Lori Warner’s new series of monotype prints, Horizon in Vertical will also be on view. Giving herself strict perimeters in which to create a new series of monotype prints, Warner succeeds in working with horizontal bands of color within a vertical plate emphasizing the balance of color. The result is an exciting shift in composition by focusing on and repeating the horizon line in ocean landscapes.
Lori Warner and Carrie Gustafson met while attend RISD as printmaking majors. For over 20 years, both women have greatly valued each other's opinions, critiques and friendship. “This is an exciting opportunity to have an exhibition together featuring our new work." Warner says. "We both process our source material into layers of color and form. More than ever before, I’ve been exploring color balance in this new series, and find inspiration in the simple placement of colors in relation to one another. We both work in this way - myself with ink in printmaking, and Carrie with light in glass.”

We're pleased to offer TWO monotype workshops in 2018 at our island print studio on Staniel Cay, in the Exumas, Bahamas.
Exploring Monotype in the Exumas: Mon, Feb 5th - Sun Feb 11th, 2018
(LINK TO BROCHURE: Exploring Monotype in the Exumas)
Learn the art of monotype in a gorgeous location and explore the gorgeous cays of the Exumas. Monotype is essentially painting directly on a printing plate and transferring this "painting" onto paper using the pressure of an etching press. All levels of experience are welcome. This is a casual workshop with individual attention to accomplish the work and vacation you have in mind. Instruction on color, viscosity printing and numerous markmaking techniques will be covered. Fee: $2935 - $4495 (depending upon accommodation choice)
From Monotype to Collage and Back: Sat, Feb 24th - Fri, March 2nd
(LINK TO BROCHURE: From Monotype to Collage and Back) Another option to continue learning the art of monotype, or to begin learning with a more experimental approach by adding collage to the mix. The class will learn to transform the textures inherent in the painterly process of monotype to create unique collages with the use of the printing press. Color and pattern will steer the design resulting in small, large and freeform finished works on paper. Different adhesives and Asian papers will be included in the discussion and fee. Fee: $3135 - $4995 (depending upon accommodation choice)
