Jeremy Ziemann - New Work
Detail of blue cast urethane structure
2014

Ziemann's new series of works are light sensitive structures that are "captive forms" meant to be explorations of atmosphere and light experience. This is achieved by what Ziemann describes as "minimizing the structure that holds the elements." This new series is "extremely complex in process, but doesn't show it; each piece retains a simplicity and pureness by portraying color and tone in a uniquely contained, and fluid way." Warner says.

Ziemann has been working in his studio for many years on personal projects in parallel with the multitude of custom fabrications and collaborations he has done for others. He worked with Sol LeWitt for a period spanning nearly 20 years, first performing wall drawings in the field and then as Ziemann's own studio was developed he worked primarily on LeWitt's structures. He collaborated with LeWitt on unique photo projects and multiples. As explained by Ziemann, "It was a partnership that allowed me to maintain my independence yet further explore our shared interest in geometric forms." Ziemann still oversees the construction of LeWitt's concrete block structures as they are sited for exhibitions, private collectors and museums worldwide.

Ziemann is a Chester native returned. His father, Richard is a renowned printmaker who also lives in Chester. Ziemann said that ultimately they "both draw inspiration from our surroundings."
