Lori Warner Gallery is the exclusive local representative for the Centerbrook Dining Table. Designed by Mark Simon of Centerbrook Architects, it is truly a functional sculpture. A modern take on a classic farm table, the Centerbrook Table and bench (also available) boast an unconventional crisscrossing leg detail and offers an ideal surface for work or dining. Hand crafted from solid Appalachian black cherry in your choice of the six hand-applied wood finishes. Samples can be viewed in person at the gallery.
Table Dimensions:
48”x96” Table / 8-10 Seats / 12” knee room for two of the seats, 15” for the rest. Because of the angling braces, two of the seats have somewhat less knee space. Seating should be comfortable but the 2 chairs may not slide fully under the table when not in use. Tables narrower than 42" wide may need an adjustment in the design dimensions to maintain that knee room. This piece can be customized for a additional charge of $350. This customization charge includes dimensions both smaller and larger dimensions within a reasonable scale.
Price: $3555 (plus shipping, White Glove $350 and 6.35% CT state sales tax)
The original idea for the Slapstick Table came from a couple who hired Mark and Centerbrook Architects to design their “rustic” contemporary home. They commissioned a custom table to compliment their new home. The Slapstick Table, made from solid Appalachian black cherry, is a modern take of the classic farm table featuring an eccentric crisscrossing leg design and bread board edges.
Mark was born into the world of art. His father, Sidney Simon, was a sculptor, and his mother, Joan Crowell, is a writer and composer. Their home resonated with discussions of art and music, inspirations that led Mark to major in sculpture at Brandeis University. Later, he graduated from the Yale School of Architecture. Today, Mark is partner at the internationally acclaimed Centerbrook Architects. He has been a pioneer in the practice of Green Architecture and his practice ranges from private houses to commercial, institutional, academic, eligious projects and highly crafted furniture.
The Slapstick Table is the Winner of the International Design Excellence Award 2008 silver medal and the GOOD DESIGN Award for 2009.
